TMP tiles are the tiles that the game uses in its maps. TMP files can be created from scratch using TMP builder and further edited using XCC TMP editor. The files for the isometric TMP tiles contain the data for ramps, radar color, tile passability, height, extra chunks of image data, and the relevant Z-data needed to give depth and layering information for proper layer rendering.

TMP tiles use the file extensions for different theaters. Tiberian Sun had .tem and .sno, and in Red Alert 2 .urb was added. Later, in Yuris Revenge, .ubn, .des, and .lun were also added making for six theater types. Each type is rendered in its corresponding theater palette (isotem.pal, isosno.pal, isourb.pal, etc) and has a corresponding .ini file (snow.ini, temperat.ini, urban.ini, etc) to control other aspects of the tile ingame and is also read by FA2 for map making.
