Welcome to the CnC Modding Encyclopedia, the user-expandable guide to modding Command & Conquer. Although currently focused on RA2 and YR, we're hoping that modders from other parts of the community will soon expand ModEnc to include information on how to mod their favorite game as well. Our RA2 and YR content will, without a doubt, soon be the most complete collection of modding knowledge in the community, and we hope this will help newbies and oldbies alike to create the best mods possible.
The latest news can be read below, and if you have questions about anything, please use the "Help" link on the left.

News reverted, RockPatch Editing Mayhem

Who's looked at today's Recent changes probably has seen it already: I've spent a good part of my night reorganizing all our RockPatch related content, with an outcome I actually quite like:

  • I renamed the categories to "RockPatch" and "RockPatch Features".
  • I created an actual "RockPatch" page, containing general information about the patch.
  • I put the Status page, Wishlist and Votelist as subpages of this general page.
  • I cleaned up all pages layout-wise, since everybody just added what he wanted, and nobody checked for sense.
  • Due to it's tremendous length, I split up the Wishlist over 7 pages.
  • I added a general "RockPatch related pages" header/footer, to navigate more easily through our ModEnc-related sites.

Thanks to the software, redirects were kept on the old locations, so links to pages should not be broken. Whoever linked to the categories, however, is fucked :P

In addition, since Special:News is now totally broken, I reverted back to template-generated news for now. We'll get this fixed asap, so we can finally use the forums for this kind of sh...

Categories and stuff

As you should have noticed already, the categories-header is gone. That's because I added a whole categories-page to the menu on the left, where all categories are listed, not just the few of the header. I also added an "All Pages" link and reordered a little.
Seems like The Final Detail is currently not being attacked by The One Man Coding Army, but we're getting there ;).
Rules Guide is fucking big, therefore it takes time. But I actually did start on it, and I'll be having some time off in a fortnight, so we're getting there, too. And then I'll finally officially get the word out and invite all community members to start an editing mayhem.

'Till then, make sure we're looking good when the hordes come.

Updates

Hi there, long time no news, but lots of Recent Changes nonetheless. Still, news posting hopefully gets more frequent soon, as the news-including from the forums is almost done. I just need our one-man-coding-army to help me with the final detail. ;) In addition, I just updated the wiki software to the latest version, and finally came around to at least changing the logo. The main design will follow soon, I hope. Also, the rest of the INI-Guide flags will soon be added, to finally render it outdated. While I'll be doing that, could somebody please update Template:Categories and categorize the latest pages? Thanks.

P.S.: Notice how I finally linked to the forums in the navigation, and how the new software automatically does the prettier URLs.

Upcoming updates

You might have noticed the ever-increasing [edited out] spam that spambots are bringing in. Well, I'm going to install a fix to prevent that very soon. Relax.

Spam again

It seems like spammers are repetitively trying to mess up this site. No sweat, rollback always helps. Also, from now on, IP bans for spamming are permanent.

Spam

Thanks do D's fast reaction, yesterday's spam editing is already pushed into oblivion again. I am currently writing a mail to the corresponding ISP (Russian, Sibirtelecom), and D has banned the IP.
No harm was done.

Recent Problems

I have no idea what's going on. I have updated to the latest wiki engine, and it showed no change; I generated a new settings file, and it works. Trying the old one resurrects the error. In other words: The same config that has worked just fine for weeks (in fact on this very day), now all of a sudden produces errors. I'll investigate. For now, most of ModEnc is back, apart from custom settings like the additional menu-items or allowed extensions for upload.

Policy regarding PrimeNet "ModEnc"

The PrimeNet "ModEnc" now sports the text "Note, this is not to be confused with the RenegadeProjects ModENC (http://modenc.renegadeprojects.com). This is simply my encyclopedia, basically all my knowledge in one place.". On the other hand, TotalPrime obviously tried to remove his name from the so-called "shitlist", claiming we were "shitheads" and just a beginner's modding guide. Despite this less than friendly attack, I have left the following message in his main page's history:
"We, the ModEnc people, although we cannot forgive the blatant attempt to copy us, see no reason for further fighting, now that you've made your relationship to us clear."
From this moment forward, our policy towards PrimeNet "ModEnc" shall be: Who fucking cares? He has made clear he is not us, and we'll only have the right to call us superior as long as we are superior. So instead of spending our time telling everybody he's ripper, we should make sure people have no reason to visit him rather than us.
To make this clear, once and for all: From this moment forward, ModEnc does not support the modification of TotalPrime's wiki in it's name. Whoever does that is on his own. We will accept that PrimeNet "ModEnc" exists, we will not forget how it was born, but otherwise we will have no connection to it.

After all, it's better we have two more pages telling newbs how to mod than two less.

In unrelated news, I took this event as a reason to re-model the mainpage and will soon be putting up a real help page rather than the crash course.

Speeding up developement

Since I have recently discovered that the Soylent page is being linked to by Wikipedia, I have decided to once and for all bring this page out of the beta-stages to a fully usable site. You can proceed as usual, but you will notice increased activity on the recent changes page, and the layout might suddenly changed.

Don't panic.
