I was going to edit this template to be readable both on light and dark modes, but it gives me the following error:

This page has been protected from editing because it is transcluded in the following page, which is protected with the "cascading" option turned on:
* Legacy RockPatch Wishlist

Seems redundant to protect a template because of an obsolete page?

I think this is an unintentionally triggered error. This Template itself on that page is only used to prompt the following information:

This is legacy information, included here for historical purposes.

This Template itself is only affected due to MediaWiki's cascading protection, and is not intentionally preventing editing.
  • Since this template mentions Template:Clr, the latter was unintentionally affected as well, and in fact, this template itself is also affected because of the Template:RockPatch template.
The simplest solution should be to replace the same effect on the protected page with HTML code, thereby freeing this Template, and report it as a bug to MediaWiki. However, the protection level set on the protected page is too high, and I cannot edit it either, so I can only wait for ModEnc's Admins to handle it.

Hello, Renegade suggests that people who cannot directly edit leave a message on the talk page (i.e., here) writing down the new template code you wish to use, then wait for someone who can edit to update it, thereby achieving a process that maintains all standardization and protections.
