Shroud
As an Object
Used to cover areas inaccessible to vision on the map, such as Unrevealed Terrain or areas affected by Allied Gap Generator.
Notes
Shroud and FogOfWar are two different objects.
even though they use the same rendering method.
Rendering Method
Uses shroud.shp to retrieve each cell and frames under different reveal states. The color indices in the frames represent alpha depth.

Specifies whether the map is initially filled with shroud. If set to no, all areas are initially revealed.
Notes
According to the rules under ShroudGrow=yes, when Shroud=no, the shroud will grow from the map boundaries at intervals controlled by ShroudRate.
Bugs/Side-Effects/Unexpected Limitations
However, Shroud=no is more akin to inverting the revealed and shrouded areas. For instance, a weapon with RevealOnFire=yes will fill the surrounding area with shroud each time it fires.

A Crate bonus where the entire map is shrouded for the player, except for those areas within the Sight radius of their units and buildings.
Bugs/Side-Effects/Unexpected Limitations
Opening a Crate with such a bonus will shroud the map even for players with a Spy Satellite (SpySat=yes) building.
