NoSpawnAlt can be set on any voxel based vehicle with Spawns, to use different voxel art when it launches its them. Such vehicles included in Red Alert 2 are the Destroyer, Dreadnought, and V3 Rocket Launcher, the latter two being a special case of 'missile' spawns with hardcoded features. Yuri's Revenge added a third form of missile spawn for the Boomer Sub.

The NoSpawnAlt filename is derived from the normal Image by suffixing it with WO ("without"). For example, the Destroyer (DEST.vxl) has an alternate image of DESTWO.vxl, automatically loaded without any separate rules(md).ini or art(md).ini entry.

Bugs/Side-Effects/Unexpected Limitations

Units always show xxxxxWO.vxl when attacked by Temporal weapons.

  • This bug has been fixed in Ares 3.0.

The image is internally stored in the same memory buffer as the turret so a unit cannot have both a turret and an alternate image.

  • This bug has been fixed in Ares 3.0.

The original unit's shadow is displayed even when the spawn has left and the NoSpawnAlt unit is active.

  • This bug has been fixed in Phobos Build #39.

example

This will cause an Internal Error if set on a vehicle that does not have the ability to spawn objects.
