Crashable
| Flag: | Crashable |
| File(s): | rules(md).ini |
| Values: | Boolean values: yes or no, true or false, 1 or 0 |
| Default: | to yes for AircraftTypes, to no otherwise. |
| Applicable to: | InfantryTypes, VehicleTypes, AircraftTypes (Ares Only) |
Defines whether this unit behaves like aircraft when being destroyed when in air. If set to yes, the unit will plummet down and crash to the ground instead of simply blowing up in mid-air.
Notes
UnitTypes with Crashable=yes will not allow passengers to escape even if the unit rests on the ground.
Bugs/Side-Effects/Unexpected Limitations
For aircraft with Locomotor={92612C46-F71F-11d1-AC9F-006008055BB5} (Jumpjet), because after crashing, they do not die but instead remain on the ground and cannot function properly.
- Starting from Ares 0.4, it is now possible for aircraft to use Crashable=no to disable crashing, allowing them to explode in mid-air.
- However, this only applies to deaths caused by destruction; if it is because the spawner unit does not exist for the spawnee or the Helipad does not exist for aircraft with AirportBound=yes, then they will still crash, and in this case, incorrect behaviors caused by using incorrect Locomotor, etc., will still persist.
For units with Locomotor={4A582742-9839-11d1-B709-00A024DDAFD1} (Hover) and those currently in the air due to paradrop or other methods, this also causes the side effect that they can never be normally killed but are still judged as killed and granted experience, etc. On vehicles and aircraft, it often results in the units only tumbling in place and never dying, but each time the unit is selected, it is immediately deselected in the next frame.

Starting from Ares 0.6, aircraft are allowed not to rotate around the longitudinal axis when crashing. Refer to Ares documentation.
Starting from Phobos Build #33, units with Locomotor=Jumpjet are allowed not to rotate around the longitudinal axis when crashing. Refer to Phobos documentation.
